On June 4, 2021, the Russian Federation President’s Cup in sambo was held at Megasport Sports Palace Basket Hall in Moscow (7, Ostrovnaya St., Moscow).
Cup of the President of the Russian Federation was established on the initiative of the All-Russian Sambo Federation by the Decree of Vladimir Putin, the President of the Russian Federation, in 2006. This most prestigious trophy was awarded for the first time in 2007.
Since then, these competitions have become one of the brightest and most spectacular sports events of the year, uniting under their banners a great number of people committed to the values and ideas of sambo.
In 2021, the strongest sambo wrestlers of Russia among members of the security forces, multiple world and European champions, international masters of sports and merited masters of sports representing constituent entities of the Russian Federation took part in the team event.
The traditional form of the Russian Federation President’s Cup in sambo is "wall-to-wall", where the result is determined in team scoring by the sum of points won by men in eight weight categories. Representatives of the light weight category up to 53 kilograms started the fights, and they were finished by athletes of over 98 kilograms.
