Five medals of different merits were won by the team of Sverdlovsk region on the second day of the Russian Cup held in Kstovo, Nizhny Novgorod region

During the second day of the Russia Cup held in Kstovo (Nizhny Novgorod region) athletes of Sverdlovsk region added new medals to our team's trophy collection. Vera Lotkova (U54 kg weight category) and Albina Cholombitko (over 80 kg weight category) representing Yekaterinburg Sambo and Judo School of Olympic Reserve, and Anton Brachev (over 98 kg weight category) from UMMC Sambo Club (Verkhnyaya Pyshma) became the Cup winners along with obtaining qualification for participation in the World Super Cup to be held in Moscow, next year in March. Stanislav Skryabin (U79 kg weight category) and Artur Khaptsev (over 98 kg weight category) from Verkhnyaya Pyshma became silver medalist winners.

In her fight for the gold medal Vera Lotkova defeated Lubov Shvaya (Perm Region) using a painful hold. Albina Cholombitko's final was exciting and turned everything upside down at once. In the middle of the bout Albina was losing to experienced Elena Khakimova (Orenburg region) with score 0:6, and the outcome of the bout seemed clear. But Albina had her own plan. First, she made a throw for four points, immediately followed with a submission adding four points more. She won 8:6, and celebrated a deserved and spectacular victory.

In the final of the heavyweight category everybody was eager to watch a bout between two teammates from UMMC Sambo Club, Artur Khaptsev and Anton Brachev. However, an injury prevented Khaptsev from appearing on the mat, and so, he gained a silver medal, while Brachev won the Cup.

The day before, on the opening day, Evgeny Sukhomlinov (U71kg weight category) and Dmitry Torgashov (U98kg weight category) from UMMC Sambo Club won bronze medals and we wish our sambists good luck on the final day of the competition.
