A series of masterclasses for young sambo wrestlers took place in the Sverdlovsk region over the weekend

A whole series of masterclasses conducted by the region's most titled athletes was held in the Sverdlovsk region on 22-23 April. It was organised by the Regional Sambo Federation and the UMMC Sambo Club (Verkhnyaya Pyshma). Almost 200 boys and girls aged 10 to 15 from Kirovgrad, Alapaevsk, Arti, Zarechny and Beloyarsky district were able to attend trainings conducted by national and world sambo stars.

Students from Kirovgrad were given a masterclass at the local secondary school No. 2 by famous athletes from the UMMC Sambo Club, six-time world champion Alsim Chernoskulov and world champion Stanislav Skryabin.

At the wrestling hall of the Municipal Autonomous Institution Central Stadium in Alapaevsk, all the kids were trained by Leonid Putintsev, Executive Director of Sambo Federation of the Sverdlovsk Region, and Ilya Khlybov, five-time world champion, Head Coach Assistant of the UMMC Sambo Club.

In Arti, at the Children and Youth Sports School named after Honored Coach of Russia Yury Meltsov, training was led by Alexey Egorov, Master of Sports of International Grade, a graduate of that school and current Coach of the Sambo and Judo Olympic Reserve School (Ekaterinburg).

Meanwhile, the masterclass held in the village of Kochnevskoye, Beloyarsky district, led by two more UMMC Sambo Club representatives, Masters of Sports of International Grade Ivan Nikulin and Dmitry Torgashov, brought together young sambo wrestlers from several towns and villages.

According to six-time world champion Alsim Chernoskulov, it is important to encourage children and teenagers of this age to get a taste for sambo, so that they are eager and enthusiastic to go to training.

“We also wanted to point out that the title of world champion is not as far away as it seems. It is not something mythical and unattainable, but rather something real. Here we are, standing in front of you, whereas at one point we started the same way. Of course, we shared some wrestling secrets as well,” said Alsim Chernoskulov.

“It was a pleasure to see how passionately and willingly the kids performed all the techniques and exercises,” said Leonid Putintsev, Executive Director of Sambo Federation of the Sverdlovsk Region. “I guess once you have thrown the five-time world champion on the mat, you get plenty of positive emotions and strength to keep training.”

The Sambo Federation of the Sverdlovsk Region and the UMMC Sambo Club will continue to organize such masterclasses in the future.
