Sambo athletes from Sverdlovsk region hit it out of the park at Russian Beach Sambo Championship

Our sportsmen won a full set of medals

Sambo athletes from Sverdlovsk region took part in the Russian Beach Sambo Championship, which was held for the second time throughout history in Anapa (Krasnodar region). Just like last year, a victory in the tournament, quickly gaining traction, was gained by a wrestler from UMMC Sambo Club (Verkhnyaya Pyshma), Artur Khaptsev (88+kg). According to coaches, he basically clinched the win with his one arm since the injury he sustained at this February’s ordinary Russian Championship told on him. Having constantly held by his injured arm, he, nevertheless, made an impressive sweep in the final being matched against Grigoriy Alekseev (St. Petersburg).   

Olesya Posylkina (Ekaterinburg) from the Olympic Sports School in sambo & judo became the Women’s Sambo Champion in the weight category up to 72kg. In the first minute of the encounter, she applied a winning hold against her clubmate, Kamila Badurova, who sealed silver.

A further silver medal was bagged by an athlete from Verkhnyaya Pyshma, Turpalali Gusikhanov (up to 88kg), and his teammates – Ali Tursunov (71kg) and Vera Lotkova from Ekaterinburg (up to 59kg) took bronze.

The team of Ural Federal District assisted by the sambo practitioners from UMMC Sambo Club – Danir Shamsutdinov, Aymergen Atkunov, Eldar Gadzhiev, Denis Sukhanov and Gleb Poznakhirko locked down second place in the team event.
